Dear Friends,.jpg)
I’m delighted to present my newest book to you, Perseverance. I wrote this book so that we might be able to maintain our focus, clarity and heart for the work that is ours to do. I wrote this book because perseverance is a choice, a discipline, a practice. The book was born the day I received a text message from a CEO friend: “Everyday I have to make a choice not to give up.”
This is not a book about the topic of persevering; it’s written directly to you, to help you through your experiences--those that inspire you to keep going and those that exhaust and demoralize you. The path of persevering is one that constantly confronts us with difficult situations and deep human emotions. Those who persevere learn to expect these challenges, to grow from them and continue forward.
This is a small “companion book,” to be carried with you and pulled out at any moment when you’re experiencing anger, failure, opposition, victory, clarity, joy. The book’s design supports this use—each page contains a provocative essay and quote on a single theme, titled with beautiful hand calligraphy by Barbara Bash. You can flip through the book and quickly find what you need. Six watercolors by New Orleans artist Asante Salaam (commissioned for the book) introduce each section.
I’m co-publishing Perseverance with Berrett-Koehler. In September, the book will be available through bookstores and on Amazon. However, you can purchase the book today, the Author’s Limited Edition, from my website. To explore inside Perseverance visit http://margaretwheatley.com/perseverance.html.
