Thanks for visiting my fundraising page!  In July of 2008 I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.  This was a diagnosis that changed my life forever.  Even though it is difficult living with this disease, and can be frustrating, it has actually turned out to be one of my greatest blessings. Because of my diabetes, I have become more healthy and active, I have met some of the most amazing people on earth, and I have been able to compete in some incredible events.  I've learned that I can do so much more than I ever thought possible, and that I don't need to set limits for myself!  During the past year I have been extremely busy learning all I can about diabetes and how to live and train with it.  I have competed in 2 Ragnar Relays, 2 sprint triathlons, a 5K, a 10K, a half marathon, and a full marathon.  I would have never been able to do this without the help of others (both with and without diabetes).  With that in mind I have decided to become a Triabetes Team Captain for 2010, so that I can give back a little of what I was blessed to get from others.

As a team captain I have committed to fundraising $5000.00, to mentor a youth with type 1 diabetes, to help educate other diabetics living in our region of the US, and to train for and compete in the St. George Ironman 2011.  What is an Ironman? It is a 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 mile bike, followed by a full marathon (26.2 miles) all within 17 hours!  Sound tough?  It will be!  But with your help I will be able to complete this amazing event.  I will be able to help others, and pay back those who have given me so much guidance along my way.

I know there are so many causes out there asking for your support.  I know that times are tough right now for most of us.  Will you please consider supporting me in this cause as I race my way to helping others understand how to revolutionize their diabetes management?  You can donate as little or as much as you are comfortable with...anywhere from $5 to $500.  You could donate $26 (one dollar for each mile I run), or $112 (one dollar for each mile I bike), or $60 (for the hour it will take me to swim).  If you are not able to help, will you please consider sending my fundraising page on to your friends and family? I can't do this alone, but together you and I can make a difference!  Someday they will discover a cure for this disease...but until then, let's break through the boundaries we've set for ourselves (whether we're diabetic or not) and live amazing, rich, and full lives.

"The miracle is not that I finished.  The miracle is that I had the courage to start." (John "The Penguin" Bingham)

Thank you!
