Dear Jo>,
Unite 2 Fight Paralysis is honored to welcome The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis and The Buoniconti Fund as our Title Sponsor for the 2017 Working 2 Walk Symposium. This year's conference will be held at the Airport Hilton in Miami, a lovely and spacious venue for our attendees.
This will be the first time we've brought the conference to the southeastern United States, and we look forward to working with The Miami Project and other partners and community advocates in the area. Read the full press release.
The Working 2 Walk Symposium provides a unique opportunity for members of the spinal cord injury community to become active participants in the process of bringing recovery therapies to the clinic. We actively encourage consumers to engage with research scientists, clinicians, and investors in developing priorities and strategies. To that end, we strive to keep our registration fees low, and offer grants to personal assistants and those with financial need in an effort to remove financial barriers to attending.
We rely on the financial help of our supporters to pay conference expenses including venue rental, catering, audio visual equipment, supplies, etc. Visit our Supporter Options web page for information on the variety of packages that are available. Questions should be directed to: matthewrodreick@u2fp.org
Our advocates in Pennsylvania will be busy next week, hosting town halls in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia to talk about the PA SCI Disability Research Bill. Led by U2FP Advocacy Director Matthew Rodreick, the group has already succeeded in getting the bill introduced in the Pennsylvania state Senate. Now comes the hard work of gathering votes!
Human clinical trials are taking place all over the United States, pursuing treatments to restore function to the paralyzed community. Most, if not all, of these clinical trials have developed in states where there is a publicly funded mechanism that supports this historically underfunded area of research. State funded programs are becoming an increasingly important component in the movement to cure paralysis. You can follow the progress of our efforts in Pennsylvania via their Facebook page.
Cheers,
Marilyn
