Getting Social

Come Ring It On! Led by clinicians Stephanie Rhoades and Ed Rollins, this festival will be informative, entertaining and fun for choirs young and old. Classes include handbell theater, handbells in worship, and an all-star choir track, as well as covering ringing techniques and offering reading sessions of wonderful music.

Our 2015 location will be St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro, Tennessee – about one hour south of Nashville.

February 2015 Ringing News

Greetings from Area 9!

Welcome to 2015. It is already flying by. I’m sure your handbell program is in full motion. I hope everyone is looking forward to attending a spring event. The selection of dates and locations is great. Area 9 has three sponsored events and there are also endorsed events – an event in the Houston Area, two in the Dallas area, and another in Tulsa. Take your pick! Festivals are great for making music as well as a bonding event for your group. Plus they’re great fun.

Happy 2015! I hope you have a festival on your calendar!

Ahoy, Area 9! Information is coming soon!

Good grief do handbell ringers like to talk! We are surely one of the talkiest bunch of like-minded folk I can think of. You can see this in rehearsal, when your director has to whistle through her teeth to get everyone settled down and focused back on ringing. You can see it at festivals, when the dull drone of side conversations is a constant. We can’t even stop talking online; post a question on handbell-L, and sit back and watch the opinions roll in in a matter of seconds. And there is very little we enjoy talking about as much as handbells!

So how about making that work for you? Who wants to earn some money just from talking about handbells?

Schulmerich Bells recently went through a big change. After being in the same factory since 1950, the company decided it was time to move to a newer facility. Regular readers of the blog will remember that this summer I packed up and moved across the country to work for Schulmerich. So when I heard that we were moving, I grabbed a camera and documented the last few days of production in the iconic Schulmerich factory.
