Take Control: Building Financial Security

The Arc of Northern Virginia recognizes that now more than ever, all families must engage in financial planning when their children are young. That is why beginning in late March, The Arc of Northern Virginia is offering, Take Control: Building Financial Security a FREE six-part financial education series. These sessions will provide families with the skills and tools to plan for a more secure financial future for themselves and for their son or daughter with an intellectual and/or developmental disability (I/DD).

Participants will:

• Learn how to create a budget;
• Understand credit and debt;
• Navigate the disability benefits system in our state;
• Use Special Needs Trusts (SNTs) and ABLE accounts to build assets while maintaining benefit eligibility; and,
• Lay the foundation to secure a better financial future.

Eligible families must:

• Include a child with I/DD currently in the third grade or below
• Fall within certain income requirements

The FREE training will be held on Tuesdays, beginning in May 24.
