Susan YatesAbout the Presenter: Doug Pedersen is CEO of Careers In Nonprofits (CNP). Established in 2006, CNP is a privately held talent acquisition and staffing firm whose sole attention is on strengthening nonprofits. Operating regionally in Chicago, Illinois and Washington, DC, CNP’s mission is to significantly improve the efficiency, impact, and morale of nonprofit operations through effective talent acquisition and hiring practices—all of which has resulted in more than 2,000 successful placements at over 500 unique nonprofits.

Doug joined the CNP team full-time as vice president in 2008 after managing several regional sales pipelines for Morgan Stanley and Hewlett-Packard Company. Doug’s background includes leadership positions at Putnam Lovell NBF (a boutique investment bank) and the U.S. Marine Corps—where he has always participated in direct service volunteer projects. Doug has also served on the advisory committee for the Walter E. Heller College of Business, the Roosevelt University Advisory Council, Net Impact Chicago’s leadership team, and the Axelson 2013 Symposium Planning Committee. Committed to advancing healthy growth of nonprofit clients, Doug often speaks on conflict resolution management, avoiding mis-hires, the state of the nonprofit sector, retention, resumes and interviews, and stress management.
