About this Session:

This session presents an overview of nonprofit budgeting to provide staff and board members with information and tools that promote active participation in the budget development and financial reporting process.  With the right process, organizations can create financial models that combine attainable fundraising goals, realistic and manageable expense expectations, and contingency plans to fully fund core programs and activities. Participants will come away with a deeper understanding of budgeting coupled with insights into effective strategies for active participation in the planning process, including key questions to ask.

Susan YatesAbout the Presenter: As the chief financial officer at Forefront, Andreason Brown oversees finance and administration functions, including accounting, human resources, IT infrastructure, and facilities. He provides strategic direction for the ongoing financial and operational sustainability of Forefront and ensures best practices in finance, management and governance.  

Andreason’s extensive work in the nonprofit sector includes work at membership, social service, architecture/design, and performing arts organizations. Most recently, he served as vice president and assistant treasurer for the Executive Service Corps of Chicago and operations director at the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference, a council of municipal governments. 

Andreason is deeply committed to the nonprofit sector and currently serves on the boards and committees of several organizations including Treatment Alternatives for Safe Communities (TASC), the African American Legacy Fund at the Chicago Community Trust, Chicago Dance Crash, the Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers, and LINKS. He earned a bachelor of economics at Central Michigan University and a master’s in nonprofit management at DePaul University.
