About this Session:

We often worry about risk within our organizations, but aren’t sure how to effectively manage it. This session will give some context to risk and why it is important to put your helmet on and prudently plunge ahead. Insurance claims tell us a great deal about trends, while cyber security and duty of care are issues nonprofit leaders must keep on their radar. Gain practical advice on addressing risks, from a governance (board level) and cultural (operations) perspective, so you can fulfill your mission and not be caught upstream without a paddle.

Who Should Participate: Anyone seeking to take a more proactive approach to risk management

Susan YatesAbout the Presenter: As managing director at Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.’s Global Nonprofit Practice, Peter Persuitti is helping formulate strategies and innovation across the many divisions of this global insurance brokerage and claims administration organization with more than 24,000 nonprofits served.  He is also a nonprofit board member, founder of an independent school, co-creator of “Common Ground,” an annual meeting for faith-based nonprofits, one of the original organizers of www.Virtus.org and a well-known speaker and expert on nonprofit management. Peter pursued advanced degrees in classics (Latin & Greek) prior to taking on leadership positions in schools, universities and foundations across the U.S. He combined that with a stint at Electronic Data Systems during Ross Perot’s tenure and then moved to the financial services world – first as a reinsurer and now as a broker—where he champions a focus on the third sector. He embraces technology and in so many ways considers this the “game changer” for operating in the 21st Century.
