About this Session: If you are in a place of transition in your career, the next steps you take can make all the difference. This workshop is designed for those thinking about switching to a career in the nonprofit sector, those thinking about new career opportunities within the sector, and those in transition. With a hands-on approach, we’ll tackle the following key questions: What is a career map? How do you put one together? At what point in your career do you need one? How often should it be revisited? Do you need one even if you don’t want to be a CEO? Uncover these answers and more at this workshop.

About the Presenter: Shannon Deamer, Managing Director, Careers In Nonprofits (CNP) oversees the strategic growth and daily operations of both the Chicago and Atlanta branches of Careers In Nonprofits. Shannon is a vibrant and strategic professional who believes strongly in following your dreams and doing what you love, a belief she carries into her work at CNP. Shannon uses her experience of identifying and solving hiring challenges within nonprofit organizations to guide both nonprofit professionals and job seekers in their respective career aspirations. Additionally, her organizational development and psychology experience provide an extra layer to her deep understanding of the needs of nonprofit leaders and job seekers.

She holds both her BS in Psychology and BA in Sociology from University of New Orleans, in addition to an MA in Industrial/Organization Psychology from Louisiana Tech University. Most recently, Shannon completed her coursework toward a PhD in Business Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and is ABD status. Shannon is also a Certified Staffing Professional as well as a Certified Search Consultant with the American Staffing Association.
