Now in its sixth year, this global day of giving presents an opportunity for nonprofits to solicit financial support, increase volunteer engagement, and raise awareness through a collaborative and social media-powered movement. Discover strategies for effectively leveraging this event to maximize your year-end gift potential with current donors, attract new audiences, and inspire your entire community. Hear stories about successful campaigns and common pitfalls, and learn about the resources and tools available to help your organization get ahead of the curve on #GivingTuesday—whether this is your first go-around or your sixth.

About the Presenters: Caitlin Bristow

Sarah Barnes, MBA, Director, Marketing and Business Development, Campbell & Company

Sarah returns to Campbell & Company after leading marketing efforts at InnerWorkings, a global marketing execution firm. In her expanded role as director of marketing and business development, Sarah leads Campbell & Company’s marketing team and strategy and overseas business development efforts.

Sarah’s professional experience includes serving as the vice president of marketing and communications for Cook Associates, where she oversaw the development, management and evaluation of marketing and public relations strategies for the firm. Prior to her role with Cook Associates, she spearheaded marketing initiatives for consumer protection services at Discover Financial Services.

In addition to her role with Campbell & Company, Sarah is an adjunct professor for the Loyola University Chicago School of Business where she teaches digital marketing. She is a frequent lecturer and guest speaker, having spoken at the Center for Nonprofit Success, the Chicago-Kent College of Law Conference on Non-For-Profit Organizations, the DePaul University Graduate School of Public Relations, Interlochen Arts Academy, and at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana American Marketing Association.

Sarah’s career started as the director of marketing and communications for Midwest Young Artists (MYA), a nonprofit organization for talented young musicians. Sarah received her Bachelor of Music Performance from Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and her MBA from Loyola University Chicago, both with honors.

 

Kelsey Nelson, MA, Associate Consultant, Campbell & Company

Kelsey’s passion for nonprofits drives her efforts to help them achieve and sustain growth through the power of philanthropy. She enjoys assisting organizations with strategic goal setting and innovative storytelling, always looking for opportunities to leverage their existing strengths.

Prior to joining Campbell & Company, Kelsey worked in the University of Michigan’s central development office. As a member of the annual giving team, she co-created a fiscal year solicitation plan, wrote university-wide direct mail and e-solicitations, and provided ongoing analyses of fundraising efforts to a portfolio of ten schools, colleges, and units. Additionally, she facilitated educational workshops for annual giving officers and helped implement lead generation and non-donor acquisition pilot projects as well as the first and second occurrences of Giving Blueday—the university’s 24-hour giving day held on #GivingTuesday.

Kelsey began her career in philanthropy at the Adler Planetarium, where she worked closely with the board of trustees and oversaw special events, publications, and partnerships designed to advance the Adler’s mission. She holds an MA in art education from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a BA in history of art & architecture and French from Middlebury College. Kelsey serves on the AFP Chicago Education Council. She is an avid runner and a member of the Girls on the Run-Chicago Associate Board.
