This workshop will cover techniques and issues in researching individual and organizational prospects as well as the related information functions that ensure fundraising as a viable and deliberate process. We’ll discuss: the role of information in the fundraising process; how to apply what you’ve learned through research to create and maintain rating systems for segmentation and prioritization; prospect identification ideas to ensure that your pipeline is well-stocked with potential donors; thoughts on targeted prospect identification to help balance and diversify your pool without compromising true interest and engagement; and prospect management principles to ensure accountability for moving those prospects through the fundraising process. The session is geared toward those currently conducting or overseeing research and prospect management activities, and will be packed with practical information and knowledgeable views that you can immediately apply in your shop, regardless of its size or focus.

Christina Pulawski is an independent consultant specializing in development research, prospect management and information flow for fund raising. Previously, she was Director of Development and Donor Services at Loyola University Chicago, overseeing the areas of research, prospect management, data management, systems, and stewardship. Prior to joining Loyola, she was Director of Development Research at Northwestern University for nearly ten years, which earned “top research shop” distinction under her direction. A Chicago native, Christina earned a BA in Political Science from Northwestern and a JD from the University of Illinois.
