Summary

Paddle! Lake Crabtree Kayak & Paddleboard Race is a fundraising event for the Bridge II Sports Parakayak team that is training for the 2016 Paralympics in Rio, Brazil. The event will have a 10 mile marathon and 3 mile challenge for kayaks and paddleboards. In addition, there will be a sprint races for family/youth, paddle boards and paracanoe/parakayak.
Our sponsor, Great Outdoor Provision Company, will be holding a boat demo as well so you may paddle various kayak models.

When: Saturday, September 28, 2013

Where: Lake Crabtree County Park, 1400 Aviation Parkway, Morrisville, NC

What: A fun-filled schedule of paddlesport races and demos

Distance Races: There will be a 10 mile marathon race and a 3 mile challenge race. Recognized divisions will depend on participation, and may include men’s and women’s K-1, unlimited, sea kayak, race canoe, touring canoe, and SUP. The distance races will start at 9:15 after a racers’ meeting at 9:00.

Sprint Races: A series of sprint races will kick off at 10:30. There will be categories for family/youth, SUP and para-canoe/para-kayak.

Paddlesport Demos: Our Title Sponsor, Outdoor Provision Company, will have canoes, kayaks and SUPs on hand for attendees to try out, starting at 10:30 in the cove by the Open Play Area.

Bridge II Sports will provide information about its adaptive paddlesport program and members of the ParaKayak racing club will be on hand to talk about their experiences in competition.

Medals will be awarded to top finishers in all race divisions. Participants will be entered in a raffle for prizes donated by our sponsors. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased to increase your chances to win.

Entry fee: $25 Includes:

· Race entry and demo participation

To ensure you receive an event T-shirt, you must register by September 22, for 3 & 10 mile events only.

You may register the day of the event.

Divisions: K1, Unlimited, Sea Kayak, Race Canoe, Touring Canoe and Paddleboard

9:00 a.m.: 3 & 10 mile racers meeting

9:15 a.m.: 3 & 10 mile race begins

10:30 a.m.: Sprint Races - Register the day of the event, $5.00/participant-team

10:30 a.m.: Great Outdoor Provision Company Boat Demo

Why: This event is brought to you by the Bridge II Sport ParaKayak Racing Club to raise awareness of our organization, to encourage competitive paddle sports in our area, and to raise funds in support of our club goals.

Bridge II Sports, a grass roots North Carolina non-profit organization, creates opportunities for youth and adults with physical disabilities to participate in individual and team sports. Our progams are designed to empower people with disabilities by cultivating independence, personal responsibility and self-confidence while encouraging healthy, active living. Our ParaKayak Racing Club is in its 4^th year and has a track record of developing successful para-athletes who are competitive at the national level. Team member Carol Rogers will be representing the USA this year in the World Sprint Championships in Duisburg, Germany.
