Summary
Biobuilders (synthetic biologists) engineer living cells to do something useful by modifying their DNA, biology’s simplest part. The BioBuilder Advanced Bio-Engineering Bootcamp provides a unique opportunity for youth in 9th - 12th grade to get four days of hands-on experience in the molecular biology techniques Biobuilders use to manipulate DNA and test genetic programs in microorganisms (E. coli and yeast). Students will be introduced to the principles of biodesign through the BioBuilder curriculum and will have a chance to explore how these principles might be used to solve real-world problems.
