Displacing Gentrification: Preservation of The Urban Latino Community and Culture
04/18/2016 09:00 PM - 04:00 PM PT
San Francisco, CA
There are three historical and notably famous neighborhoods in California that have been the center of activism, commerce arts and culture, the Mission District in San Francisco, Boyle Heights in Los Angeles, and Barrio Logan in San Diego. Each neighborhood has enacted preservation and other land use tools to protect their communities from a changing landscape in large part fueled by government inaction and speculator driven development. The workshop will explore case studies of each neighborhood and the additional preservation and other tools required to preserve and strengthen their neighborhoods.
