For over 30 years, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Cook County has been training everyday people to stand up for children that have experienced abuse and neglect in an overwhelmed and extremely under-resourced foster care system. Today there are anywhere between 5,800 to 6,000 children in Cook County’s foster care system—and CASA of Cook County can only provide one-on-one support for less than 5 percent of them. Because of our limited resources, our volunteer advocates are court-appointed for cases deemed most in need of individual, dedicated support. Team CASA is one of the primary ways in which CASA of Cook County supports its child advocacy program, you can see more pictures from our team through these two links: http://bit.ly/2015TeamCASA and http://bit.ly/TeamCASAPix. In 2016, 27 runners successfully raised more than $52,000+ to support CASA's child advocacy program and we're happy to have you with us this year! Our goal this year is to once again run the Bank of America Chicago Marathon and raise $50,000. All funds raised by Team CASA are used to support the child advocacy program, allowing CASA of Cook County to support and train more court appointed special advocates.
All members of Team CASA receive the following benefits:
1. Chicago Marathon registration paid for by CASA of Cook County
2. Runner support meetings sponsored by CASA of Cook County
3. Fundraising workshops and events
4. Team CASA marathon shirt
5. Sponsored pasta dinner during marathon weekend
We highly encourage you to share the opportunity to join Team CASA with your friends! There's nothing better than running for a good cause alongside great people!
Welcome to Team CASA and thank you for believing in our mission & vision.
