CMC Inc. Receives $15K Templeton Grant

In May the Herbert A. Templeton Foundation awarded fifteen thousand dollars to CMC to help provide need-based scholarships to young music students in need. The grant supplies CMC with $7,500 for the current year, and $7,500 for the 2009-10 fiscal year. More than 10% of CMC students come from families with limited means, some because of a temporary loss of job, illness, or other hardship, others with one or no wage earners to pay for lessons. CMC could not meet the growing need for assistance with the cost of music lessons without generous suport from individuals, foundations, and businesses, plus subsidies from the City. This foundation has awarded grants to CMC Inc. in the past: $15,000 for 2007-08 $10,000 for 2006-07, and $7,500 for 2005-06.
