Parks Replacement Bond Town Hall

Our beloved park structures and facilities have finite life spans, and require ongoing investment to remain safe and accessible. Many of our city’s playgrounds, pools, and trails are at risk of closure and emergency repair if we don’t invest in them.

Portland’s existing parks bond, approved in 1994, is about to be paid off. That means we have a unique opportunity to address critical park needs without increasing tax rates,* by referring a Parks Replacement Bond to voters now.

On June 30, Commissioner Amanda Fritz is inviting the community to a Town Hall regarding the proposed Parks Replacement Bond. The event is an opportunity for Portlanders to learn how the Parks Replacement Bond will help address urgent maintenance needs with no increased tax rates, ask questions, and share their input.

As someone who cares about our parks, please join us for this special event:

*If the proposed new measure passed, it would not increase property tax rates. If it did not pass, the annual property tax could decrease by about $13 for a home at median Assessed Value (AV) of $150,000. If approved, the overall tax rate of $.0877 per $1000 of assessed value is expected to remain the same as the expiring levy for previous bonds.
