Launch Pad To Learning age: 3.5 - 5 years - now at an after-school time (Thurs. at 3:00 pm)

Blast off into sounds & creativity! Develop cognitive, social & musical skills through methods such as Orff, Kodaly & Dalcroze. Songs, games & movement activate body & mind. Play easy percussion & melody instruments, too! Caregiver remains in the building during class.

Exploring the Guitar age: 16 & up

Want to find out if guitar is for you? Give it a try in a supportive group setting that’s more affordable than private lessons. Get the basics of classical, folk & popular styles, including chording and song accompaniment. Find comfort on the instrument and reveal your own style. This is a stand-alone, one term session designed to introduce the basics of guitar. For three-term, progressive class, see Guitar Group Lessons Level 1 on this page. Guitar rentals available at CMC.  (Beginners can also choose the school-year long class Guitar Group Lessons Level 1).

Jam Session & Sing-Along   age: 14 & up

Convene with other enthusiasts in a friendly environment to sing, play an instrument, improvise & practice reading from a lead sheet or learn tunes by ear. Discover & play folk, dance & popular music from generations past that are still enjoyed today. Come together as a group

to meet new friends & make music with others. Vocalists & all acoustic instrumentalists welcome. Bring your guitar, banjo, accordion, fiddle or whatever instrument you have on hand! This is a medium-skill level class.  For instrumentalists: basic knowledge of I, IV, V, ii & vi chords in the keys of C, D, F & G. For vocalists: ability to match pitch. While geared towards adults, families playing music together are encouraged to join in. This is a stand-alone session that repeats in winter & spring.

Contemporary Recorder  age: 14 & up

Reach beyond the Renaissance & re-discover favorites new & old from the 17th century & later. Exploration of styles such as classical, jazz & popular will deepen appreciation for this versatile instrument. Prerequisite: knowledge of all fingerings & intermediate sight-reading.

 Th   7:30pm-8:30pm   Markham   begins 10/1   $145/term
