Spring Concert
A CMC & MAC Benefit May 19

Join us for a special event on Saturday, May 19 at 7:30 PM, celebrating & supporting the arts programs of the Community Music Center and Multnomah Arts Center. Faculty, student, and guest performers unite on stage to raise funds for both arts education programs. Admission: $15 Individual, $25 Patron (reserved seat), $7 Students age 6 - 24.

The program includes masterworks by J.S. Bach:

  • Magnificat in D Major with the Francis Street Singers, Tracey Edson, Conductor
  • Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 (selections), Gayle & Philip Neuman, recorders, Andrew Ehrlich, violin (pictured here)

Chamber Music Auditions Open
Summer session now taking applications

CMC's famous and long-running two-week intensive runs July 9 - 21. Open to intermediate or advanced level musicians age 8 - 18 who'd like to work with peers at their level and experienced coaches and clinicians to put together a high-quality performance. Viola Master Class

Enjoy a rare chance to hear advanced youth violists in a public lesson given by a master of the instrument. The Sunnyside Symphony Orchestra and CMC present MET violist Desiree Elsevier coaching students on Friday, May 4 at 7:15 pm at the Community Music Center. The event is free and open to the public, so don't miss it!


CMC Student Shines in State

Current and long-time CMC cello student of Katherine Schultz, Adam Pua won 1st place in the 2018 Oregon State Chamber Ensemble Championships with his piano quintet, and medaled in the Solo competition. The competition, at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon on April 27 & 28, was sponsored by the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) and the Oregon Music Educators Association. Bravo, Adam!


Young Artists Debut
Free admission for CMC students

Join MetroArts Inc. for the 24th Young Artists Debut! Van Buren Concerto Concert where eight winners, ages 11-21, will make their debut, accompanied by musicians from the Oregon Symphony and Oregon Ballet Theatre orchestras, on Friday, May 4th, 2018, at 7:30 PM at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.
