Graduates 2018

CMC honors its hard-working and talented graduates.  See their impressive resume's below, and join us in applauding them & their accomplishments.  Bravo, seniors!

Nuutti Barron started music almost at birth, with early childhood classes, took guitar group classes at CMC with Steve Adams, and studied violin this year with Jamie Chimchirian. Nuutti graduates from La Salle Catholic College Prep, and goes on to engineering at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) after summer, where it is likely he’ll continue his interests in cocker and photography.

Krista Eurich has been studying violin at the Community Music Center since 2013. She began in the Summer 2013 with Mary Rowell. The following Summer (2014), Krista continued violin under Lisa Zweben, and is currently her student. Krista graduates from Milwaukie Academy of the Arts where she has earned the MHS Outstanding Student of the Month Award and is on the Honor Roll. In addition to the violin, she enjoys painting. After graduation, Krista will be attending Portland State University where she will be studying physics.

Chloe Kneedler is finishing her senior year at Lincoln High School. A member of the Lincoln High orchestra, Metropolitan Youth Symphony for many years, and most recently the Pacific University orchestra, she is planning on continuing in orchestra playing at the University of Victoria this fall while she studies psychology there. Chloe started private lessons at the Center with Scott Belleri in 2011, participated in CMC chamber groups since 2014, and is currently a student of Sarah Roth.

Alayna Neher graduates from Cleveland Hight School and goes to Clark Honor College at the University of Oregon this Fall. She started viola at CMC when she was 5 with instructor Elizabeth Peyton, moved to the violin around age 7, and back to viola in high school with teacher Cynthia Scott. Alayna has also been in orchestra and chamber music at CMC, and won the Marian Swartz Award in 2015. In addition, she has had 5 years of Metropolitan Youth Symphony, including two years of Symphony Orchestra and 1 year of MYSfits (top chamber orchestra). Chinese violin (Erhu) has been her 2nd instrument for a few years. She also participants in lacrosse, cross country running, Multnomah County Search & Rescue.

Erin Tallman began viola lessons with Lisa Zweben at the Community Music Center in February of 2017. Erin graduates from Liberty High School in Hillsboro as a Valedictorian. Erin is a member of MYS Vivaldi Strings ensemble. In addition, Erin has studied clarinet of 6 years and pursues interests in art and mathematics. Erin has been accepted to Pomona College where she will focus on music and mathematics.

Sam Wagner, violin, started at CMC studying violin with Cynthia Scott in 2005, and has participated in orchestra, chamber music, filled, Suzuki group playthrough, and scales classes at the Center. Other private teachers have been Justin Mackewich, Jen Arnold, and now currently Andrew Ehrlich. Sam is graduating from Cleveland Hight School as an IB Diploma student and Reed Young Scholar. Sam was awarded CMC’s Marian Swartz Merit Scholarship in 2014. He’s interested in Astronomy & physics, likes solitaire & chess, and will be attending Oregon State University Honors College this fall, majoring in engineering.
