Job Opening: Bass Teacher (Upright)

Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) seeks a qualified upright bass instructor for youth private lessons (ages 9-18) at the Community Music Center in the 2019-2020 school year. Days of work are flexible, beginning in October, 2019-2020. Wages are $20 - $34 per hour depending on education, training, and experience.

The position requires knowledge and experience in music instruction including upright bass, notation and chart reading, improvisation, skill in teaching multiple ages and experience levels, skill in communication, and ability to be punctual, dependable, and work as part of a team.

Job duties include: developing lesson plans & curricula related to area of assignment based upon overall program objectives & guidelines; preparing materials for instructing lessons; monitoring participation & evaluating student progress; and consultations with students' parents/guardians as needed. PP&R encourages candidates with knowledge, ability and experience working with a broad range of individuals and diverse communities. Although not required, PP&R encourages candidates that can fluently speak another language to include that information in your resume.
