Daimler Trucks North America returns as premier sponsor of the free concerts in the park series

(Portland, OR) – Portland Parks & Recreation has announced the 2011 schedule of artists and dates for the popular Washington Park Summer Festival, August 4-13. Showcasing a diverse array of local artists and musical genre, from world beat and jazz to pop and classical, the free concert series draws thousands each year to the Washington Park Amphitheater for music under the summer sky.

Beginning Thursday, August 4 with Linda Hornbuckle & the Divas of Soul, the concerts run nightly through Saturday, August 13. Presented with free admission, all concerts begin at 6 p.m. in the Washington Park Amphitheater, adjacent to the International Rose Test Garden. [The full schedule of dates and artists is below.]

The Washington Park Summer Festival (WPSF) is the highlight of Portland Parks & Recreation’s “Summer Free for All.” Featuring free movies and concerts in neighborhood parks from late June through early September, the Summer Free for All is presented provided to the public free of charge each year through the support of corporate sponsors and grants.

Daimler Trucks North America returns as the premier sponsor of the 2011 Festival. “I’m very grateful for the continued leadership of Daimler and our other partners,” said Parks Commissioner Nick Fish. “The Festival, and all of the Summer Free for All events, would not be possible without the generous support of local businesses, foundations, and individuals.”
