CSI’s Statement concerning the movie
Creation Studies Institute (CSI) has reviewed the above noted movie and has decided to us it in our ministry to promote the Gospel of our Creator and Savior, Jesus Christ. This fictional movie was released in theaters March 21, 2014 by pure Flix Entertainment. Although the film was almost universally panned by secular movie critics, many evangelical organizations recommended it. It cost an initial 2 million dollar investment to make and its revenues have thus far exceeded 62 million dollars worldwide.
Some have voiced objections concerning what they considered a tacit approval of the Big Bang cosmology and theistic evolution. CSI would like to warn those who are going to view the film that there will be mention of these two erroneous theories. We believe it is within the context of this film to mention the evolutionary explanation for the beginning of the universe sans the Creator. Although there are some contrivances and plot lapses, CSI stands with our brothers and sisters who see the film as a valuable evangelistic tool that presents the gospel as well as the courage of a freshman college student to stand firmly on the Word of God in the face of persecution.
