Summary

With 62 acres of open space, 30 live animals, and an interactive natural history museum at Earthplace this new program offers an unparalleled opportunity for students in grades K-5 to learn, play, and explore. The program provides high quality childcare for working families, Monday through Friday, 3:00pm to 6:00pm.

Each afternoon begins with supervised homework time followed by a variety of unique enrichment activities including science classes, animal programs, nature walks, visits to the Connecticut Birds of Prey exhibit and free-play time on the newly renovated playground. All children who attend on Wednesdays are automatically included in the After-school Adventure Program.

The Earthplace After-school Childcare Program provides a bridge between school and home that will connect students with nature in a meaningful way. Evidence shows that this helps children develop responsibility, self-confidence and respect for nature and the environment.

The program is open to all students, grades K-5 in Westport and surrounding towns. Transportation from Saugatuck School and King’s Highway School will be provided by the Westport Transit District’s Afterschool Shuttle Bus. Students who opt to ride the bus from these schools will be accompanied by Earthplace staff.

Scheduling Options: Students can enjoy the program on a Five, Three, Two or One day set schedule.
