Elise's Honor

Please join us on October 15, 2011 at MacGregor's Restaurant to remember Elise Renee Tagliaferri who was born still on April 6, 2009. This event was created by Elise's parents to raise money to support the initiatives of First Candle and raise awareness about stillbirth.

Elise's Story

Elise Renee  was the Tagliaferri's fourth child.  Their first 3 children had simple, normal pregnancies and deliveries and there was no reason to suspect otherwise with this one. Kelly went into labor with Elise at almost 36 weeks on April 6, 2009. While this was unusual, the family wasn’t initially concerned. Upon arriving at the hospital, no heartbeat could be detected. Sadly, just a short hour later the Tagliaferri's little girl was born with a knot in her umbilical cord as well as it wrapped around her neck 5 times. She had been gone at least a day. The Tagliaferri's were shocked to learn this and their world was immediately turned upside down. Instead of welcoming a new baby into their home, they were planning a memorial service. They had to explain to their young children why they didn't come home with their beautiful baby sister. It has been a long and difficult two years since Elise passed away, but she has not been forgotten and never will.

About the Event

Elise's honor is being held on October 15 as part of a coordinated effort to be part of the globally recognized Infant and Pregnancy Loss Awareness Day. In addition to dinner, attendees will be invited to participate in the international Wave of Light where people all over the world will light a candle at 7pm local time to remember babies who were lost too soon. Each person with an adult ticket will have the opportunity to name a candle at the Wave of Light ceremoney in honor of a baby of a child who passed away.

In addition, to the Wave of Light, the event will have a variety of activities including a DJ, raffles, and a silent auction!

Registration

Tickets can be purchased online by clicking here. From now until September 1, 2011 tickets are $30.00 for adults and $15.00 for children ages 3 to 10. Children under 3 are free! Tickets will be available after September 1 for an increased registration rate.

If you are unable to attend but would like to make a donation in Elise's memory, please click here. Donors of $10 or more will have the opportunity to have a candle lit on their behalf during the Wave of Light ceremony.
