Feature Article
Your new patient bat phone has been dead. Your Facebook likes rival that of your 14 year old son’s rock band. Helloooo, is anybody out there?! Your collections and patient numbers aren’t plummeting, but they sure aren’t great. You’ve got your eyes on a great vacation, that fun toy, a new porch, but that will have to wait because of the lull in your economics. You call a staff meeting, once again, to rally the troops and proceed to rant and rave to your CAs. You talk about new patients, recalling old patients, and yet another trick to get people in the door, but the result is the same.
What’s really going on?
Have you ever thought that you’re simply blending in with all other DCs in your area? The color beige doesn’t exactly scream “PICK ME!!!” If you accept the current perception of Chiropractic (as illustrated in 2 and a Half Men), you’re never going to have a unique factor. And without this unique factor, there’s no urgency, no compelling reason for people to beat a path to your door and make your practice go viral.
You can stand out in any environment, at any location, in a cash or insurance practice with one small change: offer 3 types of care in your office – condition based care, corrective care, & wellness care.
All DCs offer condition based care, that’s a given. But the corrective and wellness care separate you from all other DCs. It’s your unique factor. Just offering these two additional types of care offers the following advantages:
- you can take on the tough cases that are hugely economically satisfying and will make your heart sing as a DC
- you will start seeing more children aka the most recession proof entity in your practice
- your referral rate will skyrocket
- your retention will move to 3, 5, 10x national average of 7 visits
If you went back to all your previous patients you’ve seen and offered 3 types of care, your office would look wildly different. You would be earning 3 to 5 times the income you are currently earning. Less dropout, more impressive clinical results, much more loyalty to your office.
When people understand your unique factor, they are willing to do things in your office that they would never do at other common, one size fits all, typical DC offices down the street. Things like paying inside or outside of insurance, complying with recommendations, coming in for ongoing care, bringing in families, the list goes on!
Installing the 3 types of care in your office is not rocket science, it’s rather formulaic. All you need is a willingness to adapt to increasing competition and changing consumers (millennials – very educated, and very skeptical).
Any DCs interested in having some guidance in implementing this shift in their offices, please call or click me. I have a limited number of 30-day FREE coaching slots available for DCs who want to take their offices to the next level.

The results are in and it was a very close race. Dr. Karen Mathiak's campaign to represent District 73 in the Georgia House of Representatives continues with a runoff on July 26. You need her to represent chiropractic at the state capitol, and she needs you to help her continue the campaign.
A big thank you goes out to the many chiropractors and supporters from around the state, and around the country, who have seen the importance of having a chiropractor in the state legislature and have already given donations to her campaign. We are asking those who have not yet given their support to please do so either financially, as a volunteer, or both. Donations may be made by credit/debit card or electronic check online at www.weneedkaren.com. Volunteers should also contact the campaign at www.weneedkaren.com or on Facebook @weneedkaren.

The
International Chiropractors Association
Honors Dr. D. D. Humber with the First
Dr. Sid W. Williams Legacy Award
The International Chiropractors Association (ICA), out of deep respect and gratitude for his decades of selfless service and leadership within the association, the Life and DE communities, and the chiropractic profession worldwide, has honored D.D. Humber, DC, FICA, with the first ever Dr. Sid E. Williams Legacy Award. This well-deserved award was presented to Dr. Humber by ICA President Dr. George Curry at the Association's 2016 Annual Meeting and 90th Anniversary Gala Celebration, held April 8-9, 2016 in Davenport, Iowa.
Dr. Humber has been an ICA member since his student days at Palmer College where he received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1956. He is a native of Georgia and started a private practice in Smyrna after graduating from Palmer College. He soon had to leave his practice, however, to serve in the U. S. Army. Upon completing his years in the service of his country he returned to Georgia where he was in private practice for 20 years. In 1978, Dr. Humber joined Life College in Atlanta and served as Vice President of Clinics, then Vice President of Development, and as Senior Vice President for Clinic Business at Life University.
Dr. Humber has also been a driving force behind the powerful and ongoing Dynamic Essentials (DE) movement where he worked for many years side-by-side with Dr. Sid Williams to bring extraordinary educational, inspirational and motivational programs to generations of chiropractors and chiropractic students, and continues to this day to be a mainstay of that extraordinary program. Dr. George B. Curry Honored as ICA's
Chiropractor of the Year
for 2016
George B. Curry, DC, DACS, FICA, LCP, has been honored by the International Chiropractors Association (ICA) as the association's 2016 Chiropractor of the Year. Dr. Curry, who is serving as ICA's 18th President, was selected to receive this, the ICA's highest honor, at the association's 2016 Annual meeting and Gala 90th Anniversary Celebration held in April on the campus of Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, the location of the association's founding in 1926. "I am deeply humbled and honored by this unexpected recognition and truly appreciate the confidence in my efforts it represents," said Dr. Curry. "This is one of the greatest milestones in my professional life and I will now strive with greater energy and determination to validate this expression of trust on the part of my professional peers."
A 1982 graduate of the Palmer College of Davenport, Iowa, Dr. Curry was presented this prestigious award at a gala banquet held on April 9th, before an audience of several hundred doctors of chiropractic, students and families who had gathered to celebrate the ICA's 90 years of service to the profession and the public. The ICA Chiropractor of the Year award is presented annually to an individual who has demonstrated a career-long record of professional excellence, achievement and service to the ICA and the chiropractic profession. The selection is made by the Distinguished Fellows of the ICA, (FICA) an honorary fraternity of more than two hundred doctors of chiropractic who have served the ICA in leadership capacities and other realms of professional service with exceptional distinction.
