President's Message
Will Subluxation Survive the Future?
 The Georgia Council of Chiropractic was founded in 1982 with a mission to protect, promote, and perpetuate Chiropractic in the state of Georgia. Our focus has been to protect the definition of chiropractic and the identity of the chiropractor. Our goal is to take principled chiropractic into our communities and into the future. In the recent past we have increased our focus from not just protecting subluxation based chiropractors, but also helping them to thrive!
During the World Federation of Chiropractic’s Convention in Athens Greece, a Position Statement on Clinical and Professional Chiropractic Education was revealed. The statement was signed by Six chiropractic programs in Europe along with one in South Africa. The list of signing schools include the following: Anglo-European College of Chiropractic, Welsh Institute of Chiropractic, The Education of Clinical Biomechanics – University of Southern Denmark, Chiropractic Medicine – University of Zurich, The French-European Institute of Chiropractic, Department of Chiropractic – University of Durban and Department of Chiropractic – University of Johannesburg.
Item number 5 in the Position Statement reads:
“The teaching of vertebral subluxation complex as a vitalistic construct that claims that it is the cause of disease is unsupported by evidence. Its inclusion in a modern chiropractic curriculum in anything other than an historical context is therefore inappropriate and unnecessary.”
 The Position Statement mentions that the vertebral subluxation, in the vitalistic construct, should only be mentioned in our history books. As you and I can clearly see, they have not studied the historical context that subluxation IS the cause of DIS-EASE…a lack of proper expression of life, and NOT a modality to treat a physical symptom. It is the hindrance to the body’s full potential.
Without the primary focus of a Chiropractor being the correction of subluxation, is there really a need for a separate profession?
The principles of chiropractic ALWAYS work, therefore there is always hope! Even in this huge loss for Chiropractic Principles, two Chiropractic schools did not sign the position statement. McTimoney College of Chiropractic and the Barcelona College of Chiropractic refused to be a part of the statement. Both McTimoney and Barcelona were recently denied accreditation by the European Council on Chiropractic Education for issues related to subluxation based care and evidence based practice.
The Georgia Council of Chiropractic is actively working on avoiding such a future for Chiropractic in Georgia, and influencing organizations around the world to do the same. The GCC has an amazing momentum and we would love to have you on aboard. A recent conversation revealed to me that a few of our past members may be holding on to a wrong image of the GCC. I urge you to look past personal issues and to see the big picture.

Membership Meeting & Call for Nominations
NOTICE OF ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING: GCC Members are invited to attend our annual membership meeting to be held a the Atlanta Marriott Northwest on Saturday, August 29 at 12 noon. Items of business at the meeting include installation of board members to open positions and/or expiring terms of office.
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: Officer and Board of Director Nomination forms were mailed to GCC members on June 27 in accordance with GCC bylaws. Also included in the mailing were nomination forms for Chiropractor of the Year. GCC members wishing to nominate persons for the officer and board member positions, or for Chiropractor of the Year, must submit the nomination forms to the GCC office for receipt No Later Than July 29, 2015. Chiropratic: Radical Science for Real Health

 What makes Chiropractic a separate and distinct practice & healing art from medicine, physical therapy and other mechanistic practices, is its recognition of a vital life source. A vital energy, which is conducted as nerve force over the spinal cord and nerves from the brain to the body, just as electricity is conducted over metal wires from a power source to a lamp to light a bulb. Where medicine etc. views the whole (body) as the sum of its parts (molecules), Chiropractic recognizes the necessity for the power required to run the parts. Just as a car needs power to run, the body without its vital energy is just parts, a proverbial pile of mud.
Chiropractic was discovered in 1895 when a philosopher and scientist, D.D. Palmer observed that in groups of people who are exposed to the same environmental circumstances, only some will remain healthy. He posed the question, if environmental circumstances such as germs, toxins etc. make some people lose their health why do others maintain their health in spite of being exposed to the same disease causing factors. He hypothesized that the cause of poor health lies not outside of the body in environmental factors but within the individual person as a deficit of vital force. Otherwise why wouldn’t all people become sick if everyone was exposed to the same circumstances?
His son BJ Palmer dedicated his life to developing a science through research and an application of this principle of health through practice to prove this Major Premise, that the body is not caused to lose health by outside germs toxins etc. but a decreased transmission of vital energy as nerve force supply was in fact the fundamental basic underlying cause of loss of health. Rather than treating multiple effects or symptoms, the practice of science Chiropractic seeks to detect and locate the fundamental underlying cause of the effects. Treating multiple symptoms or effects is akin to continuously bailing out a boat to stay ahead of the water flowing in through one giant gaping hole.
This was a new radical idea at the time of its discovery. And as any idea of its nature so often does, was laughed at at first, then faced vehement opposition which in part it still does by parties ignorant of the evolution of our understanding of life and it is now transitioning into being fully accepted as the principle’s laid out in 1895 by DD Palmer are being re-discovered today by cutting edge scientists in the fields of physics and medicine.
Relative to medicine Chiropractic is still in its infancy. The only reason it has survived almost a century and a quarter is because the application of this principle in practice is an absolute, law of nature and gets sick people well and keeps well people from getting sick.
