President's Message

Loss of a Legend

It is with deep sorrow that I share with you that Dr Joe Accurso passed away peacefully at his home in Miami, earlier this week on April 4, 2016.  Dr Joe was a mentor to many in our profession including myself. He embodied the Lasting Purpose, he gave, he loved and he served out of his own abundance with no expectation of returns. Dr Accurso was a platform speaker and led the DE movement for  many years. Thousands of Chiropractors link their own success to the tutelage of Dr Accurso. He was also instrumental in initiating and hosting SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, Chiropractic philosophy events in South Florida. These meetings are well known for having been the catalyst to similar events through out the Chiropractic profession. Dr Joe made huge contributions both financially and of his time to ensure that Subluxation-based Chiropractic thrived for the next generation of Chiropractors. Dr Accurso also had a huge successful practice in Florida. If you have ever witnessed the inner workings of his office you have a better understanding of the term controlled chaos. As busy as Dr Accurso's Chiropractic office was, he was always able to give every patient his focused attention. Those that have gone through his office truly saw a master piece at work. The profession will truly miss such a dedicated individual. As people from around the globe offer their condolences, I believe the biggest way to honor Dr Accurso is to continue his work.  God Bless Dr Joe Accurso, his family, and all his sacrifices for the thing he loved most, helping people through Chiropractic care.

Dr Accurso knew that if the profession were to thrive in the future, then we would have to keep a close eye on the politics of the profession. As many in politics have said before, it all happens at the state level. In Georgia we have a great opportunity to have one of our own on the ballot to hopefully become part of the state legislative body. I am sure you have heard about Dr Karen Mathiak running for the Georgia House of Representatives. Chiropractic politics around the country have a tendency to change rapidly and to have one of our own in the legislature offers a huge opportunity for Chiropractors practicing in the State of Georgia and hopefully sets an example throughout the country. To help focus our efforts, GCC Legislative Committee leader, Dr Brad Pizza, has opened his home to host an event for Dr Karen on April 28. I hope you can join us and offer your support to Dr Mathiak.

Thank you.
