In the Fall of 2016, a group of neighbors from the Historic Committee of La Alma Lincoln Park Neighborhood Association, applied to Historic Denver’s Action Fund to conduct a survey of a portion of the neighborhood’s homes around Lincoln Park and potentially prepare a historic designation application. The survey forms and historic context will be completed by the end of this year as the first phase of the project wraps up. In November of this year, the Historic Committee of La Alma Lincoln Park, with Historic Denver and Councilman Lopez, held a community meeting to gather neighbors’ stories and what they feel is the most important aspects of the neighborhood and the lived culture to preserve. There was a general consensus to move forward in creating a historic district designation with custom design guidelines that fit the community’s needs. Given this directive, our next phase will be to create a historic district, which will protect the community’s homes, culture, and neighborhood character.

The Historic Committee received $10,000 from Historic Denver to hire the consultant, Fairhill Co., to prepare the resource surveys and complete a historic context summary of the neighborhood from its origin through the late 20^th century. As part of the Action Fund agreement, the neighborhood group is required to raise matching funds. We have raised almost all of the 25% match but we need to raise the remaining $2,000 to complete this project. We are asking for your help, through a small donation that would complete the remaining cash match by the end of this year.
