Come to Hubbard Hall to catch Claire Nic Ruairí, winner of the traditional Gaelic singing competition at the largest traditional Irish music festival in existence, the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann and 4-time All-Ireland Fiddle Champion, Dylan Foley. Claire is an Irish traditional singer from Derry, Ireland, and is the singer in residence at ‘an tSeanbheairic’, Falcarragh, Donegal, having been rewarded the prestigious ‘Éamonn Ghráinne’ scholarship. An Irish and French teacher, Claire is currently on a career break from a full time post to concentrate on her singing. She also has extensive experience teaching Irish traditional singing to children and adults of all ages. Dylan has performed at Lincoln Center, Joanie Madden’s Folk N’ Irish Cruise, Austin Celtic Festival, at Gracie Mansion for NYC Mayor Bloomberg, on Jay Unger’s Dancing On the Air show on WAMC, also Foley has been featured on Irish Television channels RTE and TG4’s fleadh programme.

  ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

Dylan Foley is a 4-time All-Ireland Fiddle Champion, Dylan was a student of the great Rose Flanagan (the original fiddler in Cherish the Ladies) and counts Joanie Madden, Brian Conway, Mike McHale, and Monsignor Charlie Coen among his primary influences. In March 2012, Foley released his debut solo album, “Hup!” featuring Brendan Dolan (piano) and Josh Dukes. Dylan, in March 2013 recorded an album with a stunning quartet, “The Yanks” made up of Isaac Alderson, Dan Gurney and Sean Earnest. Their album has been called “Outrageously good… This new Yanks album is a brilliant debut that features some of the best young trad players you’ll find anywhere.”- The Irish Echo. They are now touring frequently around the US. Now, at the age of 22, Foley teaches privately, plays concerts, sessions and celli’s around the greater NY area.

Claire Nic Ruairí is an Irish traditional singer from Derry, Ireland. She is the singer in residence at ‘an tSeanbheairic’, Falcarragh, Donegal, having been rewarded the prestigious ‘Éamonn Ghráinne’ scholarship. She regularly performs and organises traditional music events at this venue. In 2013 Claire Nic Ruairí won 1^st prize in Irish language traditional singing at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. Claire is also a member of the traditional Irish language choirs, ‘Cór Thaobh a’ Leithid’, Gweedore, and ‘ Cór an Ghrianáin’, Derry, and also regularly performs accompanied by various musicians.
