To best perform Shakespeare, we must be ready to meet him in several ways. Ready with a mind that fully grasps the meaning of the language and how to deliver it, a heart fully open to revealing all of ourselves, and a body ready to rise to the physical and mental demands of this most rich, complex playwright. We'll explore tools for unlocking the text, finding and cultivating our emotional relationship with the words, and techniques for effectively delivering the language. Participants are asked to prepare 10-15 lines of Shakespeare, preferably learned by heart. Age & gender need not match your own; what's important is that you feel a strong personal connection to your selection. Please include your selection with your registration including play, act/scene, character, and first/last lines.

A 6-week series of workshops with local professionals focusing on different aspects of theatrical training, including audition preparation and monologue work, Shakespeare, movement, improvisation, and proper vocal techniques.
