Job Title/Job #:  ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SPECIALIST– full time; 37.5 hours per week Job 2721 Department:  Public Health/ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND PROTECTION SERVICES Status/Pay: Salary Grade B2, $21.1282 per hour Reports To: Team Leader Environmental Health Services Summary  Description:  Performs professional level duties with supervision and assistance in conducting inspections and investigations, surveys, consultative services, and research relative to Environmental Public Health complaints or allegations of non-compliance of state and local laws and regulations; and performs other duties as required. 
 
Summary Requirements: 
No direct supervisor responsibility. 
 
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree that must include a minimum of twenty-four (24) semester hours in environmental health, biological health or physical sciences.  Requires current and valid driver’s license and use of personal transportation to and from job assignments. 
 
Must be registered as an Environmental Health Specialist/Sanitarian under the provisions of KRS 223 within twelve (12) months of appointment and maintain this registration for the length of employment in this classification, http://www.lrc.state.ky.us/KRS/223-00/CHAPTER.HTM. Obtain/maintain certification as a Category 8 Public Health Pesticide Operator.  Completion of both the Department for Public Health Environmental and Food Core Trainings.  Appropriate level Incident Command System (ICS) training must be obtained within one year of appointment.  Must be sworn in as a citation officer to enforce the “Smoking Ban” (LFUCG Ordinance-171-93) after completion of six (6) month probationary period.
