Public Health Preparedness Specialist

 

The Barren River District Health Department is accepting applications for one (1) full time Public Health Preparedness Specialist grade 14.

 

This position will be based at the District office in Bowling Green.

 

The minimum educational requirement is a bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and experience totaling five (5) years in local, regional, state or federal health planning/policy development, emergency services or military service which have received training to respond to public health threats will substitute for the education requirement. Applicants need to be highly motivated, independently thinking professionals.

 

This position will oversee/assist with disaster preparedness curriculums such as Community Disaster Preparedness, Community Emergency Response Teams and Medical Reserve Corps; oversee/assist with the Citizen Corps program grant, the MRC grants and advise the BRADD Citizens Corps Council; oversee the BRDHD strategic national stockpile program, Continuity of Operations plans and trainings; assist with exercise development, evaluation and corrective action planning; collaborate with community partners to plan, execute and analyze regional preparedness; be the liaison to the HEART Long Term Care subcommittee; and assist with public information and serve as backup Public Information Officer during a disaster. Other duties as assigned.

 

Applicant must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.

 

Applicants will be screened then interviewed. Hourly wage is $11.04 with excellent benefits. successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
