Description

Adan Utrera & Casa de la Cultura Hispana de Lexington

Alebrijes are a colorful form of Mexican folk art, first created in the 1930’s by Pedro Linares, a Mexico City artist.  These wildly imaginative creatures of every shape and size are created from paper mache and painted with colorful patterns.  Artists continue to be inspired today by the tradition Linares began. Join us and make your own Alebrije in this exciting workshop lead by sculptor and painter Adan Utrera. Originally from Veracruz, Mexico, Adan uses art as a way to express his dreams much like the earlier process of Pedro Linares.
