Effective Management Series: Leadership and Communication

The Effective Management Series: Leadership and Communication provides a series of three full-day workshops focusing on the skills it takes to become an effective leader in the nonprofit sector. Our experienced affiliate provides workshops addressing key areas that focus on developing your leadership vision, alignment and execution. Topics include leadership styles,coaching and inspiring your team, performance evaluations, and delegation. 

Series Details

Session I: 

Discovering your leadership communication style, and how that plays a role in your everyday interactions with individuals. We will use a DiSC Assessment to pinpoint how you communicate, and give you tools on identifying how your team can become more effective through communication. Identify communication styles of your teammembers and identify ways for more effective communication.Through discovery, you will be able to examine your leadership vision and strategies for implementation. 


Session II: 

Now that you have discovered your particular communication style and how that relates to you as a leader, you will examine ways that you can communicate with your team to build a healthy organization.

Key areas include:

  • Inspiring your Team

  • Coaching and supervision

  • Setting expectations

  • Feedback methods

  • Performance Evaluations


Session III: 

Employees are our most valuable resource in the nonprofit sector. Supporting, strengthen and encouraging growth is what make good leaders exceptional. The third part of this series focuses on how to empower staff to reach their potential through:

  • The Coaching Model

  • Delegation

  • Momentum and Motivation

Instructor: Tina Barry, Barry Consulting Group

Tina Barry's specialty is improving the communication effectiveness for in-tact teams as well as providing executive coaching and leadership development for individuals in management and executive roles. She has over 23 years of experience in the Training and Leadership Development field. Tina is the founder and President of Barry Consulting Group serving both for-profit and non-profit organizations throughout the Southern California region.

Cancellation policy: We require notice of cancellation at least 48 hours in advance of the class start time. No refunds will be provided for no-shows or late cancellations. LACAC grantees who register and do not show up will be invoiced for the full cost of the course. You are encouraged to send an alternate if you are unable to attend. 

By registering: you will receive occasional emails about Partnership events. You can opt out at any time. You also give the Partnership permission to use your image for communications and waive any rights for compensation.
