Why would be commanded to forget something?

This past Shabbat was Shabbat Zachor, the Sabbath of remembrance, in which the weekly Torah portion (Jewish bible) commands to remember to wipe out the memory of the ancient Israelites’ biblical enemy Amalek. In this class we will be exploring what it means to be commanded to wipe out memory, and why we are commanded to do so every year.
