Our 24 Hour Play Festival gives a nod to the great playwright by choosing an iconic prop, line or costume piece from one of his plays as the inspiration for our playwrights who must integrate that prop, line or costume piece into the final performance.
It only comes once a year, this show is not to be missed!
Led by Mudlark's Youth Board and staff, "Shakespeare is Dead" is Mudlark's annual 24-Hour Play Festival: an evening of 10-minute plays written, directed, and performed by young actors in just 24 hours! All proceeds go towards The Diversity Initiative, a year-old program which provides funding for scholarships and outreach to underserved communities in Evanston in an endeavor to ensure Mudlark's programming and productions are representative of our overall community.
This year, Mudlark is focused on building connections with Latinx artists and the Latinx communities in Evanston beginning with bilingual improv classes currently running at Washington Elementary. Additionally, we are continuing to build and develop relationships with the young people who participated in Mudlark programs through last year's partnership with The Art of Evolution Theater Company.
