Farmer in Training: Full Day Session 4

08/14/2017 08:30 AM - 08/18/2017 04:00 PM ET

Description

Journey through time as we examine the many ways the land, now known as Newton Community Farm, may have been used. Learn about foraging, and how Native American communities such as the Wampanoag would have worked with the land.  Experience some of their foods, culture, traditions, games, tools and crafts before taking a glimpse into the last 300 years, imagining life as a new settler or immigrant working the soil in their own unique ways…. horses and all!

In this full day version of our Farmer in Training program delve deeper into farm life. Spend more time in the field planting, weeding and harvesting, play games and cook up some tasty delights in our Barn kitchen. In the afternoons we will welcome local chefs, local artists, or other artisans as we learn new skills and crafts that are founded in nature and celebrate the beauty and bounty of the farm. Bring a lunch each day, snacks provided.

Register before March 18th to enjoy our Early Bird Discount.

Fee: Early Bird Discount General Public $375,  Early Bird Discount Friend of the Farm $335

General Public $415, Friend of the Farm $375
