Farmer in Training: Session 1 Full Day

07/23/2018 08:30 AM - 07/27/2018 04:30 PM ET

Description

Explore the entirety of the farm from the chickens to the orchard, the fields to the greenhouses. Delicious farm inspired snacks provided daily. In the full day version of our Farmer in Training program, delve deeper into farm life and broaden your skills and understanding of what it means to be a farmer in 2018. Spend more time in the field planting, weeding and harvesting, play games and cook up some tasty delights in our Barn kitchen. Mornings are described as above while in the afternoons we will welcome a local chef, local artist, or other artisans as we learn new skills that are founded in nature and celebrate the beauty and bounty of the farm.

Session 1:   How are we connected to our natural world and each other? In what ways do these relationships allow us to meet our daily needs? We will identify these connections and explore how critical they are to our day to day living. Craft your own solar oven to harness the sun’s energy, explore the workings of our greenhouses, and conduct experiments to better understand the impact of different growing conditions on the quality of our food. Come and celebrate what it means to be a part of an interconnected community. Bring lunch each day.
