Thursday, October 20, 6:30–8 pm: Fall Gardening Class with Barney Keezell

Expert Gardener and Newton resident Barney Keezell will help home gardeners determine the best plants to put in the ground now for spring and also how to put your garden to bed for winter rest.

Topics will include:

  • planting in the fall including garlic, bulbs
  • soil health
  • winter garden projects to do
  • spring planning

About the speaker: Barney Keezell comes from a family of farmers and is a lifetime gardener. He graduated from the organic landscaping program at NOFA (Northeast Organic Farming Association) and has been gardening at his home in Newton for decades. He is also a consultant for home gardeners in the Newton area. Barney is a former Newton Community Farm board member and an “Ask the Expert” gardener for the annual NCF Seedling Sale.

Location: at the Farm, in the big, red barn

This is a free event for adults but advanced registration is required. Registration closes 24 hours before starts. Enrollment limited to 15 attendees. If you sign up and realize that you can't come, please let us know (email sue@newtoncommunityfarm.org) so that we can make that space available for others.

Please be aware: At this time, masks are optional while at the Farm except for those in days 6-10 after a positive Covid-19 test who must wear masks. Please do not visit the Farm if you have tested positive for Covid-19 within the past 5 days, been told to quarantine or isolate by a health professional, or if you feel unwell.
