The Magic of Plants and the Spirit of the Seasons: Inviting Ritual and Plants into Your Everyday Life

Join Jessica Basile and Mandi Dean for a workshop on local plants and seasonal transitions.

March 13 from 7–9 pm, $40 (Registration closes on March 6.)

This gathering will be educational and interactive. Attendees will learn about an overview of the equinox; focus on one or two particular plants active during that season; and create a ritual. Participants will leave with techniques to perform their own ritual on the actual spring equinox, which falls on March 20 this year. Join our special event and get to know more about using seasonal rituals to integrate the magic of plants into your life.

About the Instructors:

Jessica Basile has lived on Newton Community Farm with her family since 2006. The beauty of this particular land and area has strengthened her innate sense that moments of joy and insight are deeply connected to the world around us. She believes wholeheartedly that humans are not separate from the rest of the natural world, and that remembering and giving thanks for this connection helps us repair both the world and ourselves. In these difficult times, when so much is falling apart all around us, we need to remember our place in the larger story. And the story, like the Earth herself, needs us too. Our remembering leads to honoring and respecting, and it is just that—the changes in our own hearts and bodies—that motivate us to live and enact our values. Participating in the dance of seasons and cycles is an essential part of the human story, and the story of life on Earth. Jessica has an MA in the History and Phenomenology of Religions, a joint MA in Anthropology and Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies, and is currently working on her dissertation. She has been writing about and facilitating Moon-Full-Ness since 2017.

Mandi Dean is a healer, gardener, licensed social worker, constellation therapeutic practitioner and herbalist. She is a bridge between the worlds of plants and humans, and aims to bring people back to the wisdom of the natural world. She blends mission and pleasure to provide people with a solid footing to further their connection with plants. She draws inspiration from the elements, using them to guide her creations. Mandi believes that right now this Earth, humans, and all creatures are in great need of the wisdom of plants and alternative ways of healing. To reclaim this wisdom is to remember our ancestors and their ancient practices of healing and thriving. In addition to booking time for an herbal consultation with Mandi, you can also purchase products at Wood Rabbit that connect you back to a time when plants meant medicine, health, beauty and pleasure. Ingredients are 100% organic, ethically sourced, cruelty free, and local when possible.
