Description

Half of Wisconsin’s mussel species are endangered, threatened or are species of special concern. Help document the presence of native musses in the Northwoods during this fun guided 2-mile paddle down the Manitowish River with UW-Green Bay graduate student and mussel expert Jesse Weinzinger.  Along the way you will stop to sample mussles in the river and in the shallows of Benson Lake using a new volunteer monitoring protocol that you can implement in a river or lake near you.  Mussel sampling involves wading in the water with an option to try out some snorkeling. Snorkel gear, canoes, paddles, and PFD's are provided.  Come ready to get wet and have a great time learning how to find and identify native mussels!  Please Pre-register by 8/24. CANCELED.
