About the Keynote Presentation:
Ryan Brady, coordinator of the Wisconsin Bird Conservation Initiative, will introduce you to several exciting bird conservation projects taking place across the state and region through the Wisconsin Bird Conservation Inititive. Learn about one of these projects, the Wisconsin Stopover Initiative, and discover what Wisconsin is doing to help meet the habitat needs of migratory birds. Then discover how individuals like you can contribute to migratory bird conservation by taking action in your own backyard.
About the Friday Night Presentation:
Kevin Kenow, USGS Wildlife Biologist, will share what he has learned from his cutting-edge research as he works to unravel the mysteries of the Common Loon. This past August, juvenile loons were radiomarked to provide information on loon movments during their first 2-3 years of life. A few of these loons were even from lakes near us! Come learn where these loons went in the winter and how tracking their movements provides essential information on the migration patterns, staging areas, and wintering sites of common loons that is required by resource managers for development and implementation of regional common loon conservation strategies.
