Wisconsin Icefishing Basics

Come to the beautiful Discovery Center grounds to learn the basics of icefishing in the Wisconsin!  Tackle is provided, or you're welcome to bring your own.  John Heusinkveld and Ryan Wahlgren will teach basic tackle set up and techniques such as jigging, shelters, tip ups, lure selection and more.  We will then head out onto our own Statehouse Lake to try for panfish and Northern Pike.  Dress as warmly as possible, especially winter boots, windproof outer garments and warm gloves or mittens.  Participants must possess a valid WI DNR fishing license to attend.  Space is limited.  Advance registration is required by 02/15/2018.
