Freshwater mussels are facing an uncertain future in our local waterways. Once abundant in both numbers and diversity, many freshwater mussel species in Wisconsin watersheds are now in danger of extinction. Jesse Weinzinger, a graduate student from the University of will present on the importance of freshwater mussels and the Wisconsin Mussel Monitoring Program, followed by a 15 minute training presentation on how to identify some of the common mussel species found in local lakes and rivers.
An evening of delicious nibbles and expanding your knowledge. Cash bar and complimentary appetizers from 5-6pm, program from 6-7pm.
