Wildlife Insights: Wild Turkeys and Ruffed Grouse

Join the Discovery Center Bird Club for their first meeting of 2024 followed by a presentation from Alaina Roth, Wildlife Biologist for Vilas County DNR, as she will be describing two similar, abundant, upland game bird species we have in Wisconsin. Both have unique histories in Wisconsin as well as certain biological niches. Alaina will describe habitat and management techniques suited to best serve each species, where they overlap and where they do not. She will also describe the current state of both species in the state today. Alaina’s responsibilities in her biologist role include habitat management, wildlife surveys, and harvest management for all game species in the county, among many other things.

The general club meeting at is 6:30pm and the presentation will start at 7:00pm.
