A Journey through the ages to uncover layers of the Northwoods' captivating history. Every chapter unfolds a deeper connection and sense of place.

Description

Join us for the sixth program in our Sense of Place series.  Since the original surveyors mapped the township in 1862 to post WWII, Manitowish Waters emerged as a robust Northwoods community.  Join Jim Bokern, Manitowish Waters Historical Society, and discover how Indigenous communities, early pioneers, and visitors came to prized our remote lakes, forests and streams.  We will explore Manitowish Waters' unique story and identity compared to neighboring communities.

Registration required by 5/13/24.  Program is held at the North Lakeland Discovery Center Main Lodge.  $12/Non-Member, $8/Member.  Tuesday 5:30 PM - 7 PM.  Light snacks and cash bar from 5:30-6 pm, program 6-7 pm.
