Summary

The Northwoods of Wisconsin are abundant in plant life ranging from spring ephemerals like delicate Starflowers, to towering trees like our beloved Eastern Hemlocks. In this Flora of the Northwoods hiking series, our team of naturalists will take participants out into various ecosystems to share their flora knowledge and demonstrate how vastly diverse plant life is in our region.

Description

Join Discovery Center Naturalists Licia and Aidan as we explore the wonderful trails of the VanVliet Hemlocks State Natural Area.  Our focus for this hike will be identifying and learning about all the amazing flowers and plants that call this old growth hemlock forest home.  Trail will be around 2 miles on moderate/hilly terrain.

Registration is required by 5/17/24.  Registered participants will be sent directions to the trailhead.  This program is offered at no charge and is sponsored by the Friends of VanVliet Hemlocks.  Saturday 9 AM - 12 PM.
