Join OFC families at the Año Nuevo Natural Preserve for a guided tour of the largest mainland breeding colony in the world for the northern elephant seal. We will have a picnic after the tour, so pack a lunch. Due to the conditions and cold weather this event is recommended only for older children. Walks last about 2.5 hours, and consist of a moderately strenuous three-mile hike over sand and sloping terrain.
Be prepared for windy, rainy conditions, as well as muddy trails. Layered clothing, sturdy shoes, and hooded rain gear are recommended. Bring bottled water for drinking as there is none available during the walk.
Pets are not allowed in the Park and cannot be left inside parked vehicles in the parking lot. No kennels are available. Please make provisions for your pets.
No eating is allowed on the walks.
Space is limited; no same-day tickets. Children 3 and under are free and do not need tickets. Cost: $7.00 per person. RSVP today.
No one turned away for lack of funds.
