Queer Women of Color Media Arts Project (QWOCMAP) Film Festival
Description
Join Our Family Coalition in support of Queer Women of Color Film Festival. In their own words:
"QWOCMAP builds power through film that radically centers our community to fundamentally transform the world where justice and equity are the norm. We create, exhibit, and distribute high-impact films that authentically reflect the lives of queer women of color (cisgender & transgender), gender nonconforming and transgender people of color (of any orientation), and address the vital, intersecting social justice issues that concern our multiple communities. Our vision nurtures filmmaker-activists to lead social justice movements that incorporate the power of art as cultural resistance and cultural resilience, cultural reclamation and cultural renewal. QWOCMAP use film to shatter stereotypes and bias, build community through compassionate public discussions, and strengthen movements for change. At our annual San Francisco International Queer Women of Color Film Festival, we screen films created through our programs, in addition to films by independent filmmakers from around the world. Each year, we play to a full house. It’s unlike any other film screening you’ve been to. It’s a theatre full of friends and family who are gathering to not only watch a film together, but to experience something new, to think differently, build community, and to participate in deep, lasting social change."
OFC will be providing childcare on the closing night, June 11th, screening from 4pm - 9pm
